3. Required Permissions Explained

The Extension requires the following permissions:

3.1 activeTab Permission

  • Purpose: To access the URL of your current browser tab when you actively click the extension icon
  • Usage: Only obtains the page URL to perform index checks
  • Scope: Temporary access only during your active use, no background monitoring

3.2 scripting Permission for *.google.com

  • Purpose: To automate search queries on Google.com for index verification
  • Usage: Injects scripts only on google.com to simulate site:[URL] searches
  • Scope: Limited to google.com domain, only during active checks

4. How the Extension Works

When you use the Extension:

  1. You click the extension icon on a specific webpage
  2. The Extension temporarily accesses that page’s URL
  3. It performs three verification methods:
    • Direct Google cache check
    • site: search query simulation on google.com
    • Alternative API-based verification
  4. All processing happens locally in your browser
  5. Results are displayed immediately and not stored

5. Third-Party Services

The Extension communicates with:

  • Google Search: For index verification queries
  • Public Search APIs: For additional verification methods

All communications are anonymous and contain only the URL being checked. No user identifiers are included.

6. Data Storage

  • Local Storage: The Extension may store settings (like theme preferences) locally in your browser using Chrome’s storage API
  • No Server Storage: No data is stored on any external servers
  • Temporary Processing: All URL checks are processed in memory and discarded immediately

7. Children’s Privacy

The Extension is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. The «Last Updated» date at the top will reflect changes. Continued use of the Extension after changes constitutes acceptance.
